LOS ANGELES, CA – In a historic precedence, the Academy has approved that Kelly Mantle, a gender-fluid actress, be considered for both Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ginger, a transgendered character in the film Confessions of a Womanizer. Mantle will be sent to the Actors Branch to be considered for the Best Supporting Acting Oscar in both gender categories – an Oscar first.

Mantle is being endorsed by 14 film festival directors for the Best Supporting Oscar, with endorsers including Michael Rabehl of Cinequest and Tony Armer of the Sunscreen Film Festival, both Oscar-affiliated and Oscar-sponsored festivals, respectively.

Confessions of a Womanizer will open its Oscar-qualifying run at Laemmle Theatres in Los Angeles, California on December 9, 2016 – a nationwide release will follow.

Confessions of a Womanizer stars the Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie Bella, as well as Jillian Rose Reed, C. Thomas Howell, Andrew Lawrence and Gary Busey. It was directed and written by Miguel Ali and produced by Erick Crespo. Harbor House Films and Mogar Pictures are distributing the film. The film has played at 30 film festivals, winning 10 awards.
